Orbis Premier closers are high specification adjustable power closers which have clean and simple lines, ideally suited for use with Orbis Premier round bar lever furniture
In order to show compliance with requirements for accessibility, the force needed to open the door, measured at the leading edge, from 0˚ must be less than 30N (see Closing and Opening forces for further information).
The size of the door, the accuracy of installation of the hardware, the presence of smoke or draught seals, the need to latch the door, the location of the door will all have a bearing on the force required to open it and as a consequence it may not be possible to provide a definitive statement as to
which closers do or do not meet the opening force requirements of the regulations.
For guidance purposes we have indicated in the chart opposite those closers which can in principle meet the opening force criteria for accessibilityand also the closing force criteria for fire doors. Due to the principles of leverage, the door width is critical in assessing the relevant opening/closing forces. The chart indicates the minimum door leaf width that is possible to achieve the necessary opening force. The maximum leaf width may be governed by the maximum closer power in accordance with BS EN 1154.
Shown - 31 955 with Streamline cover option in Satin Stainless Steel finish, SS7
Orbis Premier closers have electrophoretic finishes with arms and brackets to match.ESS - Electrophoretic Satin Stainless (to match SS7)
EPS - Electrophoretic Polished Stainless (to match PS7)
ESA - Electrophoretic Silk Anodised Aluminium (to
match SA7)
In addition, a range of colour coated and sprayed metallic finishes complete with matching arms and brackets are available to special order.
Fixed power closers are best suited to internal applications where traffic levels and draught or air pressure is unlikely to vary and where the door size is known. Adjustable power closers can be adjusted to suit door size and site conditions - variables that may be unknown at the time of specification. Specifying an adjustable closer can therefore help to avoid installing an under-powered or over-powered unit.

The dimensions stated in the chart above relate to closers mounted on the pull side of the door (fig.1 applications) only.
The use of mechanical hold-open closers is NOT PERMITTED on fire door applications.
