Three More Successes For Laidlaw Gulf
Following on from Zayed University and the prestigious Meydan Racecourse projects, Laidlaw Gulf has achieved three more notable successes in Abu Dhabi, with ironmongery orders for the Al Bandar and Al Muneera residential and commercial projects. These are part of the high profile Al Raha Beach development alongside the Yas Island Formula One motor racing complex, and the mixed use Eastern Mangroves project. All three projects have been developed by TDIC, Tourism Development & Investment Company, an independent body set up by the government of Abu Dhabi.
Built by Laing O‟Rourke on a 35,000 square metre site, Al Bandar features over 500 apartments, distributed over five buildings. Occupants will enjoy world-class amenities including a health club, a gymnasium, restaurants and retail units with access by sea, rail and road to the rest of Al Raha Beach and to neighboring Yas Island. Within the precinct itself, residents will have a wide choice of outdoor activities in the car-free environment where all parking is underground.
Al Muneera also provides a traffic-free environment in a residential development of luxurious villas and multi-storey apartment buildings, created on reclaimed land with a man-made waterfront and canal views. Built by Carillion, the project is due for completion in 2011.
Eastern Mangroves is also a TDIC project under construction by the Australian contractor, Brookfield Multiplex and is due for completion next year. Consisting of a marina, luxury spa, a 223 room hotel with conference facilities and 220 apartments, the development is inspired by the exotic Angsana tree, noted for its crown of golden flowers. It has been carefully designed to reflect the natural mangrove setting, respecting the sensitive environmental surroundings.
