Orbis Commercial Architectural Ironmongery - Introduction
A comprehensive and fully co-ordinated range of architectural hardware defined by a simple and timeless aesthetic. This visual clarity is combined with high quality performance which lends itself to a wide range of applications from contemporary commercial offices to public buildings.
Quality of design, manufacture, finish and performance are provided in equal measure in Orbis Commercial, with most components available in Satin or Polished Stainless Steel or in a Silk Anodised Aluminium finish.
Within the Orbis Commercial range is a selection of lever and pull handle designs and an advanced system of door closers including many which will enable building owners to satisfy their obligations under the The Equality Act 2010 (formerly The DDA).
Orbis Commercial door furniture can be completely integrated with the Orbis Timber Doorset Range. Factory preparation for the hardware ensures perfect installation to maximise the high performance and aesthetics of the Orbis Commercial Range.
Co-ordination of design and finish is achieved across a full range of products ensuring integrated Orbis Commercial products can be specified for the full hardware requirement of most buildings.
Each component in the Orbis Commercial range is designed for maximum performance. Products are tried and fully tested to the latest BS EN standards with full certification and CE marking where applicable.
BS EN Performance standards

Many of the product types within the Orbis Commercial range have been developed specifically to meet or exceed the latest European Standards. Where different grades of compliance are applicable, this will be indicated in the description against each item. More detailed information on standards and BS EN Classifications can be found on page 41 & 42.
CE Marking

Where CE marking is permitted, items are marked with the CE icon. The CE classification is indicated against each item where this is appropriate. Further information on CE marking and classifications can be found on page 41.
Fire Testing

Fire testing is an ongoing process with Laidlaw. Many of the Orbis Commercial hardware items have been included on timber fire door tests up to 2 hours and on steel fire doors up to 4 hours. The icon indicates the item has been successfully included in fire tests and the brief details of these are included in the general descriptions.
DDA, Approved Doc. M & BS 8300

The principal of ensuring buildings are accessible to able and less able people alike is manifest in Approved Document M of the Building Regulations and with further guidance in BS 8300 which contains specific dimensional information for certain items of architectural hardware. The disabled symbol is used throughout this document to identify those Orbis Commercial items which conform to the requirements of Approved Document M and are therefore appropriate for use in The Equality Act 2010 (formerly The DDA) applications. Further information can be found on pages 43 to 45.
