Building Awards Sponsorship

Laidlaw Interiors Group(LIG) sponsored Personality of The Year at the prestigious Building Awards 2012. The awards celebrate those who have taken the building industry by storm during the past 12 months and include categories such as Sustainability Project, Project/Construction Firm and Manufacturer of the Year.

John Jefferies, CEO of LIG was pleased to announce and deliver the award of Personality of the year to Sir John Armitt, CBE FREng FIC E Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority

Sir John received a Knighthood in the 2012 New Year Honours List for his services to engineering and construction. He was also awarded the CBE in 1996 for his contribution to the rail industry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers.

On receiving his award Sir John stated:

“I won this award as a benefit of the whole industry because the whole industry has done the most fantastic job in delivering everything for the Olympics on time and within budget. It has slain people's beliefs that the British Construction Industry can't deliver, and in fact we have demonstrated to the whole world that in fact we can. It has been a privilege for me to be involved in that. ”

The Building Awards took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on Wednesday 18 April 2012.
