Laidlaw - Environmental Policy
For over 135 years Laidlaw Solutions Limited has provided unrivalled standards in service for the specification and supply of architectural ironmongery, doorsets and handrail and balustrade solutions via a network of sales centres across the country.
We aim to supply products that not only meet the quality and standards expected by our customers but also to create environments in which people want to live and work. We achieve this by anticipating trends, developing new products to inspire our customers and providing them with the products and services they need to create their ideal environment which also impacts positively on the local area and wider community.
Laidlaw's Environmental Management System has been certified by BSI and complies with the international environmental management standard ISO14001.
Laidlaw has set itself stringent standards to ensure that it continually reduces the environmental impact of its activities. These have become embedded into our working practices and procedures, and achievement of this accreditation is a formal recognition of the progress we are making.
As the internationally accepted environmental management standard, ISO14001 provides a valuable benchmark for specifiers and clients as they assess supplier attitudes to environmental policy. Management review and monitoring procedures will ensure that we now maintain continuous and sustainable improvement and that we comply with all environmental laws and regulations.
Our ethos is outlined in our Environmental Policy:
1. Our Policy:
- Is appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impacts of Laidlaw Solutions Limited activities and products.
- Is to endeavour to minimise, and preferably prevent, all types of pollution so far as reasonably practicable and to continually improve environmental performance.
- Is to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and other requirements that the Company subscribes to.
- Is documented, implemented, maintained and communicated to all employees.
- Is available to the public on request.
2. The application of a suitable and effective Environment Management System (EMS) is integral to the achievement of the above objectives.
3. All personnel are required to understand, implement and maintain the EMS to a level consistent with their responsibility. The EMS will be routinely audited to ensure compliance with operational procedures and the achieving of objectives and targets defined within the EMS and this Policy.
4. The EMS is based upon the requirements of ISO 14001:2004.
5. The Environmental Policy and EMS shall be reviewed on an annual basis as a minimum and amended as required.
6.Recipro

Laidlaw has an association with Recipro as they work with construction companies that aim to reduce the amount of builders waste send to landfill. Recipro is a completely free website for the construction trade, set up by builders for builders, that aims to facilitate contact between different trades people and help them to use up surplus in the supply chain. It provides an outlet to encourage reuse of material that would otherwise be thrown away.
